Is there a EASY way to back up a hard drive?
I am a complete novice when it comes to computers and want a SIMPLE and QUICK way to back up my hard drive in case it crashes and I loose important data for work and school.
What is the EASIEST way to back up data ones data.
Thank you.
There are so many ways you can backup your important files. In fact, it can be confusing to pick the right solution – because that depends on what you need to backup.
Let’s look at three solutions that will work for just about anyone.
The first is to purchase a USB drive an keep a copy of your important files there. This is a very cheap and simple solution especially if you do not create many new files. The downside is you have to remember to do it.
The next method (and the one that I do) is to have an external hard drive (which are also very cheap) and copy all your files to the hard drive on a regular basis.
The next – and probably the best – idea is to use the “cloud”. This means saving all your files onto online storgae. This solution means that you can access your backup from anywhere.
The cost of using a cloud based solution is now very low and there are some excleent tools on the market to help schedule backups on a regular basis.
If you have a lot of critical data on your home desktop computers or laptop you should spend just a few bucks a month for a fully automated solution.
Checkout a service called Mozy on the internet.

Get external USB hard-drive. I recommend any seagate because they are bundle with "bounceback" That software will allow very easy synchronization of folders. It will keep every file you change on your main disk updated on your backup drive.
Norton Ghost is good to take an image of your hard disk. To be used once in a while.
If you have a problem with your main computer then all you need to do is connect your external drive to another computer and you can keep on working on your files.
As much as I hate to recommend anything made by Norton, Norton’s Ghost is very good for that. It requires a second hard drive, but it will give you a fully functional backup, operating system and all.
Get an external USB drive (or install a secondary drive in yyour computer) and get True Image 8 back up software through Limewire or Ares.

The easiest solution to computer problems is "fix it in hardware". Open up your tower and see if you have an empty "bay". If you do, go out and buy a 2nd hard disk – they cost like $70. Put a link in your "My Documents" folder onto your 2nd hard drive. Make this drive your "data drive" – all your data goes on that drive. Once a week use WinZip to make an archive back on your original ( C: ) operating system drive.
Its fool proof. If your OS drive crashes, you still have all your data on the 2nd drive and that is what’s important. If the data drive crashes, you have a good copy on your running OS drive, so you can restore easily.
