How do I go from a wireless network with a desktop pc host to just my laptop?

Posted by Filed Under Home Desktop Computers with No Comments

I have an older desktop pc with a wireless router and dsl modem setup. I need to remove my pc from the network to repair it…I use my laptop all the time anyway. Can I just remove the pc and the existing connection with the laptop and router will be fine? If not, what do I need to plug in and where, and in what order?

How to connect a laptop and a mobile using wifi with a desktop PC to use broadband connection?

Posted by Filed Under Home Desktop Computers with 1 Comment

I’ve an XP desktop PC with wired broadband connection using Ethernet card. I’ve 2 wifi enabled laptops(XP and Vista) and a wifi mobile. I want to surf the Internet from my laptops and mobile by using the existing broadband connection. What are the hardware devices I need to create a wireless LAN for file sharing as well as to use the existing broadband connection.

Thanks in advance

Hi, I currently have NTL broadband and want to go wireless. I have a Fujitsu Siemans laptop, a Linksys WRT54GS-UK 125 Mbps Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster and dont have a desktop PC. I was just wondering (as i have been reading through set up instructions for the wireless router) if you need to connect the wireless router to a desktop PC before it will allow me to connect wirelessly with my laptop?

Is it okay to bring a desktop PC into a hotel room?

Ok here is my situation – my laptop doesn’t have the necessary files on it for what I’m doing and I have to attend a two week long seminar! It’s going to take me forever to transfer the files from my office PC to the laptop and I just can’t do it.

My solution is – pack up my entire desktop PC and LCD monitor and take it into my hotel room. Is this okay? Its feels rather strange to me but I’m left with no choice – it’s not illegal is it?

I placed my notebook computer in front of my desktop PC monitor with the desktop PC monitor switched off. I used my laptop for about 6 hours. When I switched my desktop PC monitor back on, I noticed two large spots of color (one blue, one purple — both with gray edges) on my desktop PC monitor. What happened and is there any way to erase the spots?
