Is it legal to record tv to a home computer?
Posted On August 27, 2010 In Home Desktop Computers
Two part question:
1. Is it legal to record tv to a home computer?
2. Are there any websites that allow you to download the tv shows from their site rather than through the tv? Are any of these free?
Thanks!

1. Yes it is legal to record tv shows to you computer. It falls along the same lines as a vcr.
2. There are plenty of websites with free tv shows to stream and download. I can’t tell you, but enough searching and you’ll stumble upon them.
Depends where you are. I am in the UK and here I think it is illegal. We have BBC iPlayer where you can download programs that have been broadcast in the last 7 days. ITV also operate a similar policy.
